Welcome to The Women's Centre Website

Our Aim:

Aiming to enable the empowerment of each individual woman to achieve her maximum potential of health, well-being and happiness in accordance with her own goals for her life and her future.

About Us
Adopting a holistic approach, The Women’s Centre exists to provide local accessible services to women who may require information on health, well-being, individual support, counselling, employment support and legal advice.  Women can also learn and develop personal effectiveness, self help skills and techniques through attending a programme of structured but informal training.  Whatever their needs, women can drop-in or telephone during our opening times to speak to a member of our team.

From its initiation in 1985 as a ‘Well Women’ Centre, it developed as a result of the enthusiasm, dedication and commitment of its founder members in response to recognition of the largely unmet needs of many women. The Women’s Centre has over the past twenty one years grown into a service which is well established in the local network of Voluntary and Public Sector organisations.

Due to popular demand, in 2000, The Women’s Centre opened an office in Darwen which operates from the C.A.B. premises every Tuesday.  Later in 2002, the Centre expanded further and opened the satellite Centre in Accrington which has since been well used by the local women of Hyndburn.
